There may be a time when you find yourself in an emergency situation with your child and their teeth. Knowing what is an emergency and knowing what to do about it can help you to remain calm and can be the difference between losing a tooth or saving it.
If your child is experiencing a dental emergency, it is important that you contact us as soon as possible.
WHAT IS AN EMERGENCY DENTAL SITUATION?
The short answer to that question is this; If you feel that your child may be in an emergency situation, call us immediately. Things like broken or fractured teeth, whether it is a result of sports or simply playing rough, will need to be tended to as soon as possible. Teeth that have been knocked out can often times be re-inserted and saved if action is taken quickly.
Severe toothaches or pain and pressure can also be a sign of a dental emergency. Pain can be an indicator of damage, abscess or severe decay. Call us right away if your child is experiencing any of these symptoms and we will evaluate the situation and work together with you to find a solution.
If your child has had dental work done in the past, such as fillings or crowns, they may experience a loose or even a missing filling. If a crown becomes loose or has been lost, or if there are fillings that need to be replaced, please call us right away and make an appointment to have the work repaired.
If your child comes to you complaining of sudden tooth sensitivity, this could be a sign that the enamel of his tooth has been worn down or has chipped away. Not only is this painful, but it leaves the tooth vulnerable to decay.
Whatever your situation, if you are faced with a dental emergency, call us right away and we will get your child in for an exam as soon as possible.
